Teachers & Workshops

MIKE HAYATAKA

WORKSHOP:

Off-Body Quad Hoops – All-Levels (Even beginner, Promise)

2 Hoops, 1 Hand – 4 Hoops, 2 Arms :
Multi hoop manipulation has taken the hoop community by storm.  With different multi-hoop grips and transitions, hoopers minds have been expanded into the realm of quad-hooping.  This class will teach, at an extremely detailed level, what our hands, fingers and forearms need to be doing in order to hold more than one hoop per hand.  In addition, we will be focusing on normal issues that hoopers have trouble with when doing multiple hoops, such as keeping planes, grip switching, and keeping the viewer’s perspective in mind.  We’ll learn how to make flat shapes, 3-D shapes, Ocho grip switches, and hybrid basics. The end goal of this class is the get students comfortable moving multiple hoops through space and discovering new ways to hold the hoops.

BIO:

Mike has been hooping for over 8 years and in that time has fallen in love with hooping and teaching object manipulation skills. With his unique style and liquid flow he’s now taking his over 7 years of teaching experience to the flow community. His analytical teaching style informs intuitive, hard to explain concepts, through single technique-based breakdowns. With a successful international and domestic workshop portfolio he has taught at over 45 flow and hoop events over the last 6 years. Just back from a 7 week tour with The Wandering Circus in New Zealand, Mike is ready to teach the stuff and things to all the hoopers.

We’ll play with getting in and out of our hoop in playful ways that look cool and won’t give you whiplash. Dynamic, fun and full of WOW moves 🙂

Loren DL

WORKSHOP:

Pimp Your Flow Let’s talk musicality and impro! A successful recipe starts with the choice of the best ingredients. When you create a choreography it’s the same. Loren will share with you her unique method in which the improvisation and the translation of our feelings play a major role in the creation process. Where to begin, how to find the inspiration, how to structure your project and play with the music. You will get helpful tips on how to incorporate dance in hooping, without necessarly adding tricks. No need to be a skilled or experienced dancer to participate! You will be surprised by how resourceful you already are and will learn how to dance to the beat of the music and get into the groove. The workshop will end with the completion of 2 different hoop choreographies on a same music, in which you will put in practice all the steps learned during the classes. Let’s dance!

Loren DL:

She begins to teach hoopDance in 2013 and launch the first hoop fitness classes in Paris one year later with the HoopTonic® program. Passionate and convinced by the benefits of hooping for body and mind, she began a professional retraining to make the teaching of Hula-hoop her full time job as becoming a fitness instructor. WORKSHOP:

FOLDING ON LEGS Many ways to fold the hoops with legs. Some moves will be integrated with other tricks and we will see different ways to get in and out the leg folds.
